Recent released products from Microsoft

Yesterday was a big day for Microsoft, they released quite a few products and updated Web Matrix as well.
The list is as follows:

• ASP.Net MVC 3 - with Razor View Engine
• NuGet - Including support for Elmah
• IIS Express 7.5 - Targeted for Development scenarios
• SQL Server Compact 4 - Compact and useful for light scenarios
• Orchard - Open source, community based project
• Web Matrix - Including useful SEO reports

All in all, a lot of good details listed in the announcement page.

Convirtiendo Paquete de SSIS 2008 hacia 2005

Si alguna vez tienen necesidad de convertir un paquete de SSIS 2008 hacia 2005, mientras este articulo parcialmente ayuda Convertiendo un proyecto en Visual Studio 2010 hacia Visual Studio 2008; simplemente hay demasiadas conversiones manuals quehacer.

Arreglo para Octubre 2010 Cumulative Update para SharePoint 2010

En caso que hayas instalado el Octobre 2010 Cumulative Update, quizas hallas tenido suerte y competo correctamente. Pero en caso de que no haya completado correctamente o no estes seguro si completo correctamente es recomendable que efectues los siguientes pasos:

1. Navega a Central Administration
2. Administra Service Applications ( Manage Service Applications )
3. Administra los Permisos de los Usuarios (Manage User Permissions) de el User Profile Service Application
4. Agrega las cuentas que no estan funcionando correctamente ( las cuentas default estaran listadas automaticamente )

Workaround for October 2010 Cumulative Update for SharePoint 2010

In case you have already applied the October 2010 Cumulative Update you might either have had luck and not had any issues or it might have left the update in an incomplete state. If you suspect the update did not complete correctly, you will have to:

1. Go to Central Administration
2. Manage Service Applications
3. Manage User Permissions of the User Profile Service Application
4. Add the accounts that are not working correctly ( the default ones will be listed automatically )

Actualizacion Octubre 2010 para SharePoint 2010

Usualmente recomiendo la adopcion de actualizaciones y service packs tan pronto como son hechos publicos. Pero en este caso es mejor no instalarlo y esperar hasta que los problemas hayan sido resueltos.

Microsoft unveiled today their cloud  productivity suite dubbed Microsoft Office 365, the link was not online until sometime 14:00 CDT. The audiences being targeted vary from organizations with less than 25 people for $6 per user per month throughout the Enterprise version, you can also sign up for the beta to try it out at:

It is quite an impressive arrange of products combined with their services:

SharePoint 2010 and Application Pool Passwords

If by any chance you ran across the need to recover the Application Pool Password(s) in either WSS 3.0 or MOSS 2007, they were stored in an unsecure and clear text fashion. Like illustrated nicely in the listed blog postings below:

That has changed in SharePoint Foundation 2010 and SharePoint 2010, the methods in the Object Model have been deprecated. Furthermore, when they are called you receive an error which leads to have to handle it correctly.

That certainly is a step forward to securing the Application Pool Passwords.

ASP.Net MVC 3 Beta Released today!

Today quite a few goodies were released:

• NuPack
• ASP.Net MVC 3 Beta Download
• WebMatrix Beta 2

Very interesting changes in ASP.Net MVC 3, the razor engine is a welcome addition. While it is a different way of coding, it has a hint of the throwing ASP and C# together. A WebGrid has been added to the controls, much needed in my opinion.

Fab 40 Templates Updated for SharePoint 2010

The Fabulous 40 Templates were available for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, khalil has done an excellent job in updating these to SharePoint 2010. They are not all fully available yet, but he has quite a few already updated.
